Foreign buyers can own property in Serbia. The transaction needs a tax ID, a notary appointment and a well-drafted preliminary contract.
Most uncertainty about buying from abroad comes from not knowing the sequence. Nothing in the process is unusual — but the order matters, and two steps must be finished before a serious offer.
The sequence
First the tax ID and non-resident account, then due diligence, then the preliminary contract and notary certification. A detailed guide is on the foreign buyers page.
Power of attorney
You do not need to be in Serbia. A certified power of attorney lets the contract, payment and registration proceed in your name.
